    Sandbox-Admin & Role Management

      Article summary

In the organizational hierarchy, we have three types of administrators: Organization Admins, Workspace Admins, and Data Admins.

When an Organization Admin designates a user either as a Workspace Admin or Data Admin, they are not only supposed to choose which workspace to grant admin access to but also need to consider the various sandbox stages, i.e., Dev (Development), QA (Quality Assurance), UAT (User Acceptance Testing), and Live.

For instance, if an Organization Admin intends to assign a user as a Data Admin, they must not only select the specified workspace but also decide on the applicable sandbox stages—whether it be Dev, QA, UAT, or Live. Failing to select the appropriate sandbox stages during this process may result in the user not being added as a Data Admin to the intended stage. Therefore, when appointing a user as a Data Admin, the Organization Admin should prioritize selecting the sandbox stage along with specifying the workspace while granting the Data Admin access.

      How to appoint data admins?

      • Click on Admin MenuWorkspaces Workspaces.

      • Select the workspace to which you want to appoint a Data Admin, and then click on Manage Admin under Data Admin section.

      • Choose the required Sandbox stage, i.e., Dev or QA or UAT or Live.

      • Click on Add Data Admin on the top right corner.

      • A pop-up appears, select the user you want to elect as a Data Admin and click Save.

      Assigning & Managing User Roles

Similar to appointing administrators, when assigning user roles, administrators must specify both the workspace and the stage to which the user will have access. This ensures that users have access to a particular workspace within the specified sandbox stages.

For example, if an administrator wants a specific user to access a designated workspace within the Live stage, but fails to select the necessary sandbox stage, the user won't be granted access to that workspace in the Live stage.

How to assign & manage User Roles?

      • Click on the Admin Menu → Users → Assign Roles.

      • Choose the required Sandbox stage and workspace in that stage to assign the roles of a user.

      • Once you choose, click on Add User Role in the top right corner. A pop-up appears. Fill in the necessary details, then click Save.

      • You'll see that the user has been assigned to the role you selected for them in the stage you specified.
